Slits can be a natural framing device that some creatures endeavor to present themselves in. The Sneaky Snakes of the Realm are adept at finding slits, especially ones that are movable apertures as the pressure waves they cause are audible. With this dynamic store front of sorts the snake (or other clever creatures) can participate in a false economy by selling wakes of pollution, treacherous waters, or turbulence. Beware of the false claims because those who get conned into purchasing the global dotes will find it impossible to monetize them further and fall into a sleep in which no antidote exists to awake them from the wake.
